  • 2023 Recruiting Class

How do you all see the 2023 Class Breaking down?

Presumably our roster will look something like this if Thomas transfers, Hornery stays and Ellis doesn't use his 5th year. That would give us 4 spots to fill between HS recruits and transfers:

    PG: Portal PG, Kobe
    SG: RDW, Sellers
    SF: White
    PF: Wright, Hornery
    C: Iwuchukwu, Morgan

It seems to me the best breakdown would be to take 3 HS kids with one transfer. Since Kobe is versatile, you probably are looking at one guard, one wing, one big (Definitely a chance Hornery or Morgan leave, and an outside shot Iwuchukwu is one and done).

Given that we seem to be doing pretty well with Isaiah Miranda (East Coast PF/C), he seems like an obvious fit. What do you guys think of the below class?

    PG: Isaiah Collier/AJ Johnson
    Wing: Curtis Williams/Andrej Stojakovic
    Big: Miranda/Devin Williams

Chase in Arizona TexasNick Would be great to hear your guy's thoughts on this on a podcast.

You're missing Drew? Him and Boogie are expected back.

Great to have you on the board. We will discuss this on future podcasts for sure. Agree that 3 seems like the right number, but wouldn't be shocked if they took four. USC usually takes decent sized HS classes

2016, I think you’re right on track. Planning for a 3-man class makes sense, and I think your suggested class is highly possible.

Locking in Miranda would be huge.

Based on Compton Magic play this past weekend, Stojakovic may be ahead of Williams.

Also, if we are able to get a 2-year PG from the portal — say Juice or Trammell — the pressure to take a true PG in 2023 lessens if we can’t get Collier. In that case, as you suggest, AJ Johnson is definitely worth a look.

Brandon Jenkins from 24/7 has said in the past that our staff has developed a great relationship with 5* PG Isaiah Collier & his family. However, I wouldn’t put too much into that until he spends an official visit. Isaiah Miranda has already been on his OV with his Family & I have heard that the staff “feels good” about our chances. Curtis Williams is an intriguing prospect from Etiwanda HS. Going to have my eyes dead set on him during AAU season (Compton Magic 17s).

Not that it's a big deal how you label them, but it seems to me that Dixon-Waters is absolutely a three in Enfield's system. We switch a lot, and you can line them up however you want on defense. But offensively there's always been a primary and a secondary ball-handler on the floor, except in emergencies.

I just see Reese more as a spot-up shooter and rebounder. He's done some good work following shots into the key. Boogie and Stevenson have played as one and two. We need a pure point, everyone agrees. But if both those guys return, maybe it's even a more pressing need to come up with a true 5 to protect the rim.
