Thanks, and EM would certainly be higher if he played more than one year (Rudo played 3). Next on the list is Best Coach and top NBA careers for SC players.Last edited by uscjohnnymac; 07-22-2024, 05:27 PM.

Thanks johnnymac for this whole series. It brought back a lot of memories. What 'cha got cookin' next? haha
t's amazing to me that we end up with a 6'6" player as the best center in SC history. I would hazard a guess that had Evan Mobley played 2 seasons as Rudo did, that he would be the first team selection for the Center position.

All Time SC Hoops First Team
Guards: Paul Westphal and Harold Miner
The #1 recruit is SC history, Westphal was Mr. Basketball in CA, and it was a huge disappointment to John Wooden that he chose USC. Led SC to its best season ever, 24-2, as a JR in 1971. Only played 14 games his SR year due to injury, but averaged 20.3 pts, 3rd best in school history up to that point, and he remains 9th on the career average list. Two time all conference first team, and Helms All American, was the highest drafted player from SC in the NBA draft until OJ Mayo 36 years later. Miner was SI National Player of the Year and Conference Player of the Year in 1992. USC's first conference Freshman of the year. He is USC's only 2,000 point scorer, is first in points in a season, season scoring average, and career scoring average. Miner scored 30+ points 19 times, ten more than #2 John Block. Single season leader in FTs attempted, and made. His 789 points in 1992 is 4th most in Pac 12 History. Still second in the history of the conference for scoring average behind Jabbar. Westphal and Miner are the only two USC players to make the Pac 12 network all century team.
Forwards: Sam Clancy and Ron Riley
Clancy is 4th in career rebounds, 10th in career steals and 2nd career blocked shots. He is third on the all time scoring list, and was SCs third ever Conference Player of the Year in 2002. Riley was the best rebounder in school history by a mile. He is seventh in total rebounds in the history of the Pac 12 Conference. He has the top two rebounding seasons in SC history, and had 20+ points and 20+ rebounds in a game six times, the most in school history by four. Key player on SC's best team ever.
Center: John Rudometkin
The Reckless Russian, as Chick Hearn used to call him. Rudo came to SC as an undersized JC recruit, but established himself as the best player in school history up to that point. Led the Conference in scoring twice, and rebounding once. Still 17th on the all time conference scoring avg list. His 60-61 season is the second greatest ever at SC, behind Miner's 92 season. His 24 points and 12 rebounds are 3rd and 4th all time in school history, his FGs made is second, and FT made is 5th. He led SC to its 6th, and last, outright conference championship, a #7 final AP ranking, 2nd highest ever, and was named NCAA T all regional first team, after games of 24-11, 21-13 and 24-12. Scored more than 30 points 6 times, and had 20 points and 20 rebounds in a game twice.
