Chase:
As you know, I have been following this team for MANY years. I can't help but compare this hire to the Tim Floyd hire. I thought Tim Floyd was an excellent college coach who also brought in some really good players. Floyd was on the "emotional side" so Muss should not be anything we haven't seen before. I thought Floyd was outstanding, but he was unfortunately thrown under the bus, or so it seemed, but the brainiacs who were running the athletic dept.
I know Muss will really have his work cut out the first year as the roster he is inheriting is not exactly full. OTOH, it does leave lots of openings for him to shape the team as he so chooses from the beginning.
Assuming Josh Cohen is his first get, I would say that is a pretty nice start. (catchy last name as well). USC does not have any significant proven offensive talent coming back, though I still really like Page and his potential if he stays. I imagine he will try to recruit Perry aggressively, but I also suspect he will not chase Liam Campbell quite as hard and I am not sure about Kozlowski from Utah, though it never hurts to have a bruiser type who can board and shoot. Blue collar players have a roll.
All told, I am very happy with this hire. I wonder when the negotiations really started, though I suppose we can never really know. I am happy that this change has been made. After 11 years with ZERO Championships, I honestly think the timing was on schedule. MJDavidson
