  • USC eFG% Stats since 1996-97 Season

As a reminder, eFG% (of effective field goal percentage) is the same as FG%, except that 3-pointers are worth 50% more than a 2-pointer. So, for example, if you shoot 4 for 10 from the field, you FG% is 40%; but if one of your four FGs made is a 3-pointer, then your eFG% is 45%. Got it?

    So, prior to this season…

USC’s best seasons for eFG% on offense l since 1996-97 were:

    51.1% in 2000-01
    51.2% in 2004-05
    52.2% in 2015-16
    52.2% in 2016-17
    52.7% in 2020-21
    52.8% in 2006-07
    52.8% in 2018-19
    53.3% in 2007-08
    53.8% in 2017-18

Now there is obviously a lot of basketball to play this season, including most of the Pac-12 schedule. So far this season, USC’s eFG% on offense is 54.2%.

    What about defense?

USC’s best seasons for eFG% on defense l since 1996-97 were:

    46.3% in 2008-09
    46.2% in 2010-11
    44.9% in 2020-21
    44.8% in 2007-09
    44.7% in 2006-07
    44.6% in 2019-20
    43.2% in 2009-10

Once again, there is obviously a lot of basketball to play this season, including most of the Pac-12 schedule. So far this season, USC’s eFG% on defense is 40.6%.

Impressive for the team so far! Not sure they can keep up that level.
