In his column's Q&A today, Jon Wilner says (1) there's a "decent chance" Andy leaves for a job on the east coast this spring, though it's not the most likely result, and (2) if he does leave, Wilner would be surprised if CSU's Nico Medved and Wyoming's Jeff Linder were not on SC's coaching short list. Your thoughts on both propositions, and also on the quality of those two candidates (whose names I had not heard of until ten minutes ago)? Thanks.

Regarding Medved and Linder, both have have success in the Mountain West this year. Linder elevated Northern Colorado to a top 100 KenPom team in his fourth year. Wyoming was a dumpster fire when he got there and he turned them into a top 40 KenPom team in his second year. Medved is in his fourth year at Colorado State and has them in the top 30 of KenPom. Colorado State has improved in KenPom every year he's been there. Bottom line is both of these guys can coach, but jumping up from G5 to power 5 is a risk (just look at Shaka Smart). A major key for both of them is how they build their staffs. The program would be nowhere near where it is right now without Jason Hart, Tony Bland, Chris Capko and Eric Mobley.
You also have to look at the impact on your roster. If the staff leaves, you likely lose your 3 top 50 recruits (Iwuchukwu, Wright, and White). You would also lose the Compton Magic pipeline (probably to UCLA) and you could see mass transfers out. You'd basically be starting over. For that reason if Andy left, I'd hire Jason Hart or elevate Chris Capko, those are the ways you could keep the roster and potentially the recruiting class together. I don't think Bohn would go that route, but that's what I'd do. There's a question whether money could be an issue given lack of fan support and I don't know the answer to that. If you do a national search, I'd definitely give Altman a call, I'd look at Sean Miller, Brad Underwood, Porter Moser, Eric Musselman (even though he's an ass), Kim English, Chris Mack, Larry Kryskowiak and even Tad Boyle before I'd look at the mid major guys.

Given your above post and comments made on the pod, why hasn't Andy received an extension yet? I guess that's the million dollar question, but it seems like we're running out of cogent ideas.
It seems ludicrous that grown men with multi-million dollar salaries would squabble over being "liked". I don't think Andy's looking for approval from Bohn. It would be similarly ludicrous not to pay Enfield at the rate his success commands given that SC is one of the most well endowed schools in the country. On the other board I theorized that maybe Bohn was hoping Andy would have a down year after E8 run and could let him go without much backlash, but now Andy's success has put him in a tough spot.
So... In order of ridiculous-ness of why an agreement has not been reached:
1. Bohn is hyper petty.
2. Enfield is exceedingly greedy.
3. Bohn thinks he can do better than Enfield if he wants
4. Donor(s) really just don't like Enfield
5. Bohn just doesn't care all that much about basketball.
Any other conceivable reasons?

I think Bohn and Sosna wanted to keep their options open, and Bohn in particular didn’t want give Andy a new contract after last season, so he chose of kind of half measure of giving him an extra year on his existing deal.
And now, the situation may have gotten away from Bohn a bit. The demands from the Andy side may have grown.
So I don’t think it’s as simple as single explanations like Bohn being petty.

I know someone who personally spoke to Andy about a few years ago. Apparently he was under consideration for the Oklahoma St and/or Georgetown job. Andy was intrigued by the Georgetown job and could have had it. He said, he could recruit there and get a packed gym. Seems like the packed gym was a big part of it. Andy also said, his wife loves living in Manhattan Beach and they just finished building a new home. The person asked Andy if he used this to get a better contract and Andy smiled...of course. My timeline may be a little off, but I think this must have been before Bohn was hired. In my opinion, unless Bohn has a "Lincoln Riley" in his back pocket ready to take the job - he has to keep Andy. I've been watching Trojan hoops since I went there in the 80s and this is the longest sustained success we've had in a long time. Bibby's teams and Floyd's teams had some great years, but Andy seems to be doing it year after year. He's bringing in very good players and look at all the Trojans in the NBA.
