This is what happens when you ban or run off everyone on your board who can think
Johnny, I agree with you but I didn't want to respond to those posts because those two posters happen to be diehard fans. We all have our own opinions though I disagree with Pack or Watson also. We should be shooting for the best.
This is crazy!; consider yourself lucky to get banned. I haven't been over there in a while but if I remember correctly I think the head mod is very Pro Enfield so he must be out of his mind right now...

I think this is indicative of expectations people have for the program. Robert Pack and Earl Watson are not leading SC to a Final Four, but on the USC Hoops podcast John Calipari is discussed as a candidate. Big difference.

Man, to be honest I mixed up the podcasts after I stopped listening for a while and I was so confused as to when it became so pessimistic. They act like we are Mount Saint Mary's or something on the other board, it makes no sense
And, look, Nick and I are not predicting that Cal is coming to USC. As a thought experiment it made some sense.
I think a fair way to look at the market is the recent hires by Stanford and Washington. Kyle Smith and Danny Sprinkle are two really, really solid coaches. And, yes, I do think they could take a team to the Final Four.
Well, I don't see any reason that we can shoot higher than that.
Yes, Louisville seemed to have a lot of trouble. That might be a Louisville thing. And Ohio State did decide to just promote from within -- but that seemed to be a result from circumstance, not from what the market looked like.
I think your discussion on Cal was completely on point. He would be a homerun hire, and the timing may have been right. If SC didn't have to pay the huge buyout, just take the huge contract off Kentucky's hands. There is no reason not to try everything with this hire.
